GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position's is responsible for Flat Products (FP) Inspection of Hot Rolled and Cold Rolled material within the Cold Mill.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Primary Purpose of this position is to inspect both Hot Rolled and Cold Rolled stainless steel.


  1. Visual inspection (aided by optical equipment)
  2. Dimension inspection (micrometers)
  3. Documenting the inspection in AS400 computer records

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Other duties as assigned.
  2. Participation in Safety programs
  3. Participation in continuous improvement programs



MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
  2. Good computer skills
  3. Good time management and organizational skills



PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Mobility in plant.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Good Communication abilities.
  • Mobility: Stand (stationary) - 40%, stand/walk - 30%, walking -

20%, and sitting 10%.

  • Strength and Agility: Lifting up to 50#, carrying - occ/100 ft.,

push/pull - occ/100#, climbing - occ., balancing - occ., bending -

occ., stooping - occ., crouching - occ., kneeling - occ., twisting -

occ., turning - occ.

  • Dexterity: grasping firm, strong, reaching. Must have full range of motion in thumb, index and middle fingers, due to typing and micrometer readings (limited motion

on ring fingers).

  • Visual - preferably 20/20 or corrective to 20/20 Vision.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours in one place.



HEALTH AND SAFETY

  1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
  2. Follow Company safety rules.
  3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.
  4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:
    • Safety shoes
    • Safety glasses
    • Hearing protection
    • Hard hat
    • All other safety equipment required by JSA

  1. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy.
  2. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.
  3. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
