GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The line mechanic is to work closely with the Line engineer, maintenance and operation on a day to day basis to keep the line in good working condition enhance production and quality as well as equipment life. Area can include the following as assigned by AP Engineer: AP Line, Waste Water Treatment, Industrial Water Treatment, Acid Tank Farm and Boilers.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Line Inspection: with limited direction and supervision to check the equipment responsible for looking for current and potential problems addressing them as follows:

The mechanic is to correct equipment problems as they are found whenever possible especially for jobs that require immediate attention.

For jobs that do not require immediate attention and time does not permit to correct them the mechanic is to write corrective/preventive maintenance work orders to be completed by other maintenance personnel.

  1. Line Improvement: to work with the Line Engineer to develop, procure, execute changes to the equipment and /or process which would improve the quality, productive, and/or reliability of the line. This may involve:

Defining the problem (s)

Participate in developing concept/solution.

Writing/executing work orders to complete changes.

  1. Maintenance Program Improvements: to work with the line engineer to improve the preventive/predictive maintenance program by:

Generating new preventive/predictive maintenance work orders when required.

Editing preventive/predictive maintenance work orders when required.

Maintaining preventive / predictive maintenance work orders generated by

AS400.

  1. Scheduled Outage Planning and Execution: to assist the line engineer to develop and execute scheduled line outages including:

Gathering information to prioritize jobs.

Writing work orders to be completed during outage if required.

Supervising the proper execution of work being done and completed during outage by NAS maintenance personnel and /or contractors.

Executing key work orders during outage when required.

Assisting to stage parts and material for outages.

Troubleshooting equipment at these locations to assist operations and contractors to resolve important issues and repairs.

  1. Plant Support: to perform work in the line and other lines as assigned during major outages and /or when special circumstances require it including:

Working major scheduled outages in other lines when assigned.


Backing up maintenance when major break-ins occur and /or when specific knowledge is highly beneficial to repair major break-ins.


SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Mechanic works as a team member of the Maintenance Department. The job involves independent work on troubleshooting or repairing mechanical systems, and working with other members of the Maintenance Department. In addition the mechanic works with Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors on work orders and breakdowns and is required to interact with Operations Personnel to determine the functionality of repairs or modifications to existing and new systems.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


  1. A Minimum of a High School Degree or Equivalent (GED)
  2. Two year industrial experience and / or technical degree in the related field.
  3. Two year experience working in NAS maintenance department.
  4. Minimum skill level on PC/computers.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Mobility in plant.

  3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.

  1. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the

Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy.


  1. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.
  2. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
