ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Implement all safety and health policies and procedures in designated area.
2. Complete weekly safety audits of assigned mill and work with the Mill Operations
Manager to ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance and contractors.
3. Participate in post incident investigations involving all contractors.
4. Conduct follow up on all safety and health related incidents and assure timely corrective
actions are being taken.
5. Conduct monthly safety meetings for all personnel in assigned mill.
6. Assure that all permits are obtained and issued in the area of responsibility.
7. Work with assigned Mill Operations Manager, Supervisor and Leads to provide oversight
for all safety and health issues.
8. Attend necessary training to stay up-to-date on all OSHA regulation changes and current
on any training necessary to efficiently perform the job.
9. Has functional authority throughout the plant for health and safety issues.
10. Coordinate and communicate regularly with all NAS employees and contractor's
concerning health and safety issues.
11. Will be required to develop and present safety training and safety information to NAS
employees and contractors.
12. Responsible for managing ISNet World and contractor requests.
13. Responsible for conducting contractor safety orientation, keeping contractor orientation
video up-to-date, and the contractor test.
14. Work with the departments when the need arises for special contractor orientations
outside of normal scheduled training to get contractor employees trained.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Other duties as assigned
2. Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor degree in Occupational Safety and Health with a minimum of three years previous
experience preferred, or five to seven years minimum steel production experience with
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Mobility in plant
While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,
walk, etc.
The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Visual ability with or without correction
Communication abilities
Must be able to climb ladders
Must be able to wear fall protection harness
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
2. Follow Company safety rules
3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor
or Manager immediately
4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or
worn:
a. Safety shoes
b. Safety glasses
c. Hearing protection
d. Hard Hat
Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:
e. Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with
company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
f. Fire Retardant clothing
g. Acid PPE
5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the
Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy
6. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
7. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
8. Maintain a clean and safe work area

2. Clean, well ventilated and safe work areas.
