GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position of Crane operator is responsible for all operating function as listed below. Operation of the
Crane unit must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the equipment to meet all the quality and
productivity goals as outlined in our quality system. All work instructions must be followed as
outlined.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Listed below are the primary activities which must be learned, understood and followed according to
work instructions. The process engineer/supervisor, Group Leader and Shift Leaders will monitor each
person and provide any necessary instruction or direction as necessary during the training
period.

1. Make sure all Crane parts are in working order and set points are correct per work instructions. If
necessary make proper adjustments.
2. Operation the vacuum crane to remove plate from the line and any other crane operation in the
plate shop.
3. Overhead crane operation.
4. Packages all the material ran thru the line assisted by Temporary Personnel (when material
permits).
5. Have basic knowledge about the functions of the pickling line.
6. Visually inspect of the plate as it is getting moved over to the packaging area to ensure proper
chemical pickling has occurred. The crane operator must know the possible defects during the
pickling and shear process.
7. Check plate measurements (width, length, thickness) on each plate received from pickling and
shear line in coordination with the shear operator.
8. Obtain each plate spanision weight ran thru the line.
9. Verify stencil ID number on each plate provided from previous line.
10. Attach plate's barcode tag on each plate spanision ran thru the line.
11. Log comments on plate tracking sheet about the material that has been processed.
12. Operator must be able to run the shear to receive top pay level of (4).
13. Crane operator must inspect black plates when necessary.
14. Miscellaneous: Performed as necessary.
15. Follow all prescribed safety rules.
16. Housekeeping/ Maintenance works as assigned.
17. Any other tasks assigned to you by your Turn Lead, Group Lead or
Supervisor.


SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. As a Crane operator, you must work as a member of your crew, communicating with on another
during the normal course of the days work.
2. Your chain of command is first with Turn Leader, Group leader, Process Engineer/ supervisor and
department manager.
3. Any other duties you are assigned.
4. Participation in continuous improvement programs is required.


MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


Minimum requirements of a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), basic computer skills and strong
communication skills.


PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Mobility: Stand (stationary) 25%, stand/walk 40%, walking 30%, sitting
5%,
2. Strength and Agility: Lifting-occ., 50 #, carrying-occ. 15 # , push/pull-occ. 50 #., climbing-fre.,
balancing-fre., bending-fre., stooping-occ., crouching-occ., kneeling-occ., crawling- occ.,
running-fre., twisting-occ., turning-occ.
3. Dexterity: Grasping (firm/strong), finger
dexterity/handling, reaching.

4. Must have the ability to communicate and read the English language.
5. Vision ability- physical test required
6. Ability to work a rotating shift (rotating from days to nights on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule)


HEALTH AND SAFETY

1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
2. Follow all company safety rules.
3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Shift Leader,
Group Leader or Supervisor immediately.
4. Use of all equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:
a. Safety shoes
b. Safety glasses
c. Hearing protection
d. Hard Hat
e. Gloves and Sleeves
f.Acid PPE
g. Any other PPE required for the area you are in.
5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the
Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy.
6. You must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.
7. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
